This is why many of the inmates are housed at La Plata Jail in Durango. This is an unsustainable system, however; so far Archuleta county has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to transport inmates between the jails.[1]
The Archuleta Courthouse has also been forced to move some operations to La Plata because of air-quality problems in the building.[2] Many of the employees who worked at the Archuleta Courthouse have reported headaches, eye problems, upper respiratory tract irritation, and fatigue.[3]
